About BitDesigns

BitDesigns is the one-man online semi-regular show of Bit Santos.
It has been known in previous years as “BitStation” and “BitStream” before it became known as it is today.

What Was

Before realizing that he had no need to reinvent any wheels (and wondering why anyone would want to reinvent these wonderful circular things that make things roll), BitDesigns was a site completely made from scratch using PHP, MySQL, XHTML/CSS, and a whole lotta fiddling. It proudly used PHP Smarty Templates.

What Is

Now, the world is a better place with Textpattern.
I also am now compliant XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

What Will Be

Bit has yet to explore the full potential of Textpattern, but he promises to get there someday and wow the world with his brilliance.

Keep coming back for more of Bit’s thoughts on design, the Internet, web development, current events and culture, and his favorite topic – his life.

About Bit Santos

The one-and-only amazing Bit Santos is a web designer and developer who sometimes dabbles in graphic design. He just happens to hail from the peaceful city of Las Piñas in the beautiful (and uniquely “exciting”) country of the Philippines.

Bit’s Background

Bit graduated in 2005 with a BS Computer Science degree from the prestigious Ateneo de Manila University (with no actual honors, except for the mere honor of having been accepted and kept for 4 years by the institution).

He began programming in his last year of high school in 2000-2001 and forever fell in love. That same year, he was introduced to the world of design through that wonder of wonders (if used properly), Macromedia Flash. Later, midway through his college studies, he realized his true love – design. Not wanting nor willing to give up his background and education in Computer Science, he found the perfect middle ground: web design and development. Through extracurricular involvement in various student organizations, he honed his web design and development skills, and the rest, as many a cliche go, is history.

Bit is an adamant supporter of the current web standards revolution. He firmly stands by using semantic XHTML, CSS-based design, unobtrusive JavaScript, and maximizing accessibility (within reason, of course).

What Bit is Doing Now

Currently, Bit is employed and having “fun” at Eversun Software, Inc. at its Makati, Philippines office. Yup. He’s working for “the man”.

Unbeknownst, of course, to his employer, co-workers, and friends, he secretly draws out his plans for world domination during his free time.

While he loves his current job, he still enjoys the occasional side project to add some spice to his life. He would appreciate and look forward to any possible freelance projects that you could throw at him. Feel free to email Bit or contact him through this website for more information.
